What is the Florida Restricted Barber License?
A real, state-issued Florida professional license. 600 hours of training. Covers cuts, fades, tapers, edges, shaves, beards, and razor work. The only services excluded are chemical services like perms, relaxers, and dyes. Modern barbershops do not sell those services.
Can I actually work as a barber with this license?
Yes. The Florida Restricted Barber License is a real professional license. You can legally cut hair, fade, taper, shave, sculpt beards, and offer razor work across Florida. You can rent your own chair, work in any barbershop, or open and operate your own.
How is the program structured?
About 50 days of theory online, followed by 6 weeks of in person practical class in our Coconut Creek lab. Our lab is built as a modern barbershop, not a classroom. Professional chairs, professional tools, real clients during practice.
Why is your program shorter than other schools?
Because we removed the hours that do not apply to modern barbering. We teach 600 hours of what real barbers actually do every day, not 900 hours of mixed content.
Can I open my own barbershop with this license?
Yes. The Restricted Barber License qualifies you to own and operate a barbershop in Florida offering cuts, fades, tapers, edges, shaves, and beard services.
When can I start?
Today. Open enrollment means you can start your online theory immediately the same day you enroll. You schedule your 6 weeks of practical class when you are ready.
What payment options are available?
Payment plans starting at $100 per month. Private loan options also available. No FAFSA paperwork. No hidden fees.
Do I need any prior experience?
None. Most of our students have never picked up clippers before day one. The program is designed for true beginners.
What do I need to apply?
You must be 18 or older. Sixteen with parental signature is also accepted. Valid photo ID. High school diploma or GED.
Will the State of Florida recognize this training?
Yes. Invictus Institute of Barbering is licensed by the Florida Commission for Independent Education. Graduates sit for the Florida state board exam and earn a Restricted Barber License issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

To say that my time at invictus institute of barbering was honestly one of the best, smartest, and most fulfilling decision I have ever made would be a great understatement. In my time with this barbering school, not only did I meet some of the best people who I have come to call friends but I received one of the most thorough and highest quality education that I have ever received in my life. I went into this school having no background in hair cutting and im now outperforming barbers that have years of experience under their belt. This school isn't your average barbering school, its not dull and boring. Its truly inspiring and goal oriented with passion and creativity in mind. Our instructor tico has guided and taught us with such love and passion that the emotions is infectious. I not only learned how to cut hair I learned how to be confident here. Incredible experience here as a student barber. I was nervous coming into it, but I’ve never been welcomed so genuinely by a teacher and his staff. They are so passionate about teaching and training the next generation of barbers. They treat you like family, and they are always there for you. I’m leaving with lifelong relationships that I’ll never forget, but even more importantly, im leaving as a professional barber that feels confident in his abilities. I can’t wait to continue to see Invictus grow.

I cannot say enough how great this program is. The education is more extensive and hands on than any other barber school I’ve checked out. You not only get a lot of practice with manikins, but you also get a lot of practice on real clients. This program is one of a kind and if you are unsure of which school you want to go to, there is no better then Invictus Institute of Barbering.

If you’re looking for a barber institute, then look no further. Invictus is phenomenal. I did months of research before I enrolled and what they offer. No other school can match doing the bookwork online at your convenience and then going into school and doing the practical Tico is absolutely amazing not just as a teacher, but also as a human being as well. I was going through some personal issues. And Tico took the time to listen and understand what I was going through or try to understand and he was patient with me. Ligia is amazing . During the online portion of it if you have any questions if you just reach out to her, she’s just extremely efficient and very prompt with answering texts. When you start the practical, you’re given all your tools on day one. It’s kind of like Christmas time you’re giving everything you need. From neck strips to clippers you could even pick out a black or white clippers trimmers or Hairdryer. The first time I was gonna cut a human head, I was petrified, but Tico walked me through it He coached me. He stood by my side, gave me positive feedback and encouraged me. When you’re in Invictus, you’re not just somebody paying tuition they actually Care about you I formed a very strong bond with Tico and Ligia . I even told Tico on the day that we graduate that I was gonna come back every week and see Him and talk to him. So if you’re looking for a school look no further Invictus Is top-notch. You will not be disappointed.
