YOU'RE GREAT. YOU'RE JUST NOT LICENSED (YET).

You learned it the hard way.

Years of reps nobody paid you for.

Now the work is clean. The fades are sharp. Clients text you directly.

And you still can’t hang a sign.

  • You can’t rent a chair in a real shop.
  • You can’t open your own.
  • You can’t put your name on anything.
  • You take cash, you keep it quiet, and you keep one eye on the door.

That’s not a skill problem.
That’s a paperwork problem!

THE GOOD NEWS

YOU'VE ALREADY DONE THE HARD PART.

Most people who walk into a barber school are starting from zero. They spend months learning what you already do in your sleep.

You’re not most people.
WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE
  • The hands.
  • The eye.
  • The blend.
  • The consistency.
WHAT YOU DON’T
  • 600 documented hours.
  • A license number from the State of Florida.
We are here to help you!

WHAT THE LICENSE ACTUALLY BUYS

IT'S NOT A CERTIFICATE. IT'S A CEILING REMOVAL.

Every barber you know who owns a shop, sets their own prices, and builds a real book has one thing you don’t. Not more talent. A license.

01
RENT A CHAIR ANYWHERE
Legitimate shops don’t gamble on unlicensed barbers. With a license, the door opens.
02
OPEN YOUR OWN SHOP
The Restricted Barber License qualifies you to own and operate a barbershop in Florida.
03
CHARGE FULL PRICE
Unlicensed barbers discount to keep clients quiet. Licensed barbers price like professionals.

WHY US

WE BUILT THIS FOR BARBERS

Most Florida schools will put you in a 900-hour program and teach you perms, relaxers, and chemical services you will never sell a day in your life.

We teach 600 hours of what modern barbers actually do — cuts, fades, tapers, edges, shaves, beards, razor work — and we send you to the state board.

LICENSED FLORIDA SCHOOL
Licensed by the Florida Commission for Independent Education. Graduates sit for the Florida state board exam.
BUILT BY A BARBER
Tico. 20 years behind the chair. Trained at Vidal Sassoon, Paul Mitchell, Menspire UK, Ego Barbers UK.
MODERN BARBERING
Our Coconut Creek lab is built as a modern barbershop where we teach modern and advanced trends.
NO CHEMICAL-SERVICE FILLER
Zero hours wasted on services modern barbershops don’t sell.
Tico, founder
MEET THE FOUNDER

TICO.

"Traditional schools are still teaching a curriculum written in 1968. I’m not going to make a barber with ten years of skill sit through a perm class to prove he can fade."

Twenty years behind the chair and training from the most respected academies in the world: Vidal Sassoon, Paul Mitchell, Menspire UK, and Ego Barbers UK.

In 2017 he founded Invictus Barber Shop in Coconut Creek: a destination chair for UFC fighters, celebrities, and clients who recognize the difference between a haircut and a craft.

In 2024 he turned that craft into a curriculum: Invictus Institute of Barbering, a modern school built for the way modern barbers actually work, because he watched too many barbers graduate broke from programs that hadn't been updated since 1968.

He calls his students Unlikely. He calls his graduates Black Belt Barbers. He doesn't apologize for any of it.

THE QUESTIONS

ASKED AND ANSWERED.

I have been cutting for years. Do I really have to go to school?

In Florida, yes. The state does not license barbers on skill alone — it licenses on documented training hours from a licensed school, plus the state board exam. There is no test-out. So the smart move is not avoiding school. It is choosing the shortest legal program that respects what you already know. That is the 600-hour Restricted Barber License.

Our practical lab runs in small groups, and our educators teach to the barber in front of them. Experienced barbers spend their lab hours refining, not remediating — and most tell us the advanced scissors techniques and styling are where they gain the most. Brand new to barbering with no experience? Our Florida Restricted Barber License program for beginners is built for you.

The theory is 100% online, at your pace, on your phone. Nothing about it stops you from living your life. The practical is six weeks, in person, and we will walk you through scheduling it when you tour.

Florida generally requires training from a Florida-licensed school or a formal reciprocity/endorsement process. Come tour, bring what documentation you have, and we will tell you honestly where you stand.

A real, state-issued professional license. 600 hours. Covers cuts, fades, tapers, edges, shaves, beards, and razor work. The only services excluded are chemical services — perms, relaxers, dyes. Services modern barbershops do not sell.

Yes. The Restricted Barber License qualifies you to own and operate a barbershop in Florida offering cuts, fades, tapers, edges, shaves, and beard services.

Yes. Anywhere in Florida.

We removed the hours that do not apply to modern barbering. 600 hours of what real barbers do every day, instead of 900 hours of 1968 curriculum.

Today. Open enrollment. Your online theory can start the same day you enroll.

Payment plans from \$100/month. Private loan options available. No FAFSA paperwork. No hidden fees.

18 or older (16 with parental signature). Valid photo ID. High school diploma or GED.

Yes. Invictus Institute of Barbering is licensed by the Florida Commission for Independent Education. Graduates sit for the Florida state board exam and earn a Restricted Barber License issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

To say that my time at invictus institute of barbering was honestly one of the best, smartest, and most fulfilling decision I have ever made would be a great understatement. In my time with this barbering school, not only did I meet some of the best people who I have come to call friends but I received one of the most thorough and highest quality education that I have ever received in my life. I went into this school having no background in hair cutting and im now outperforming barbers that have years of experience under their belt. This school isn't your average barbering school, its not dull and boring. Its truly inspiring and goal oriented with passion and creativity in mind. Our instructor tico has guided and taught us with such love and passion that the emotions is infectious. I not only learned how to cut hair I learned how to be confident here. If anyone is reading this and wondering if they should pick this place to get their education or are on the fence about pursuing this career at all, please believe me when I say this. You could not pick a better school and you WILL leave this place so we'll prepared to start barbering. This I guarantee. Thank you tico for helping me start the next chapter of my life with everything I need to be successful.

Incredible experience here as a student barber. I was nervous coming into it, but I’ve never been welcomed so genuinely by a teacher and his staff. They are so passionate about teaching and training the next generation of barbers. They treat you like family, and they are always there for you. I’m leaving with lifelong relationships that I’ll never forget, but even more importantly, im leaving as a professional barber that feels confident in his abilities. I can’t wait to continue to see Invictus grow.

I cannot say enough how great this program is. The education is more extensive and hands on than any other barber school I’ve checked out. You not only get a lot of practice with manikins, but you also get a lot of practice on real clients. This program is one of a kind and if you are unsure of which school you want to go to, there is no better then Invictus Institute of Barbering.

If you’re looking for a barber institute, then look no further. Invictus is phenomenal. I did months of research before I enrolled and what they offer. No other school can match doing the bookwork online at your convenience and then going into school and doing the practical Tico is absolutely amazing not just as a teacher, but also as a human being as well. I was going through some personal issues. And Tico took the time to listen and understand what I was going through or try to understand and he was patient with me. Ligia is amazing . During the online portion of it if you have any questions if you just reach out to her, she’s just extremely efficient and very prompt with answering texts. When you start the practical, you’re given all your tools on day one. It’s kind of like Christmas time you’re giving everything you need. From neck strips to clippers you could even pick out a black or white clippers trimmers or Hairdryer. The first time I was gonna cut a human head, I was petrified, but Tico walked me through it He coached me. He stood by my side, gave me positive feedback and encouraged me. When you’re in Invictus, you’re not just somebody paying tuition they actually Care about you I formed a very strong bond with Tico and Ligia . I even told Tico on the day that we graduate that I was gonna come back every week and see Him and talk to him. So if you’re looking for a school look no further Invictus Is top-notch. You will not be disappointed.

Taking this 7-week barbering course has been one of the most valuable experiences for me. Not only did I learn strong technical skills—everything from precision cutting, fading, and shaping, to proper tool handling—but I also gained lessons that go far beyond the chair.

What I appreciated most was how the instructors emphasized professionalism, communication, and confidence. They taught us that being a barber is not just about the cut, it’s about the personality and presence you bring to each client. That balance of craft and character is what made this course stand out.

I walk away not only better prepared as a barber but also with a mindset that will help me build real connections with clients and grow in this industry. I’d recommend this course to anyone serious about barbering and developing themselves as a professional.
