The Invictus Institute of Barbering is a barber-only school born from the strong desire to change realities and how barbers receive education to truly prepare them for a successful, profitable and fulfilling career.
Our founder, Tico, has been a barber for more than 20 years. He has gained experience and knowledge from leading global academies such as Menspire Academy (UK), Ego Barbers (UK), Vidal Sassoon Academy and Paul Mitchell.
With a modern and innovative approach to education, adapted to the times we live in, we perfectly combined hands-on and online classes, challenging the ‘traditional model’ used by schools in the United States.
Being a barber, barbershop owner, and educator for so many years helped Tico fully and deeply understand what barbers really need in terms of education.
how we do it
Our barber program will take you from beginner to professional barber and can be completed in as little as 3 months. Our teaching methodology is unlike anything available anywhere else and will truly prepare you for success.
step 1 - theory
You can study all the theory online through your phone or computer from the comfort of your home, at your own pace. You’ll have access to our exclusive platform available in 3 languages for your convenience (English, Spanish and Portuguese), which includes all the topics required for your licensing.
This first step can be completed in as little as 30 days.
After completing the online classes, it’s time to prepare for your launching!
step 2 - practice
You will have the opportunity to practice all types of haircuts and beard styles, including modern trends not typically covered in barber schools, using not only mannequin heads but also practicing in models in our modern barbershop.
Our lab classes can be booked at your convenience and we have morning and evening classes to fit on your busy schedule.
Our small group sessions allow each student to receive full attention from the instructor and most importantly: in our methodology we don’t mix students at different levels.
The lab classes take 7 weeks to complete.

Can I tour the Institute before enrolling?

How Does a Hybrid Program Work?
Our program has all the theory online, which can be completed as fast as 30 days. It’s up to you to decide how many hours you study daily. The second step is the practical lab in our modern facility where you will be prepared to serve a diverse clientele, practicing in mannequins first to learn the techniques and real clients afterwards.
How Do the Practical Classes Work?
Our unique methodology is 100% focused on practice! Our goal is to prepare you for real situations you’ll face behind the barber chair, including all types of haircuts and beard styles. You will be prepared to handle all hair types (straight, curly, afro, etc.) and trendy styles not taught in schools.
First, you will learn the techniques using mannequins. When you feel prepared, you’ll practice with real clients in the Barbershop Lab. You will also learn soft and hard skills to prepare you for success.

What is the difference between the 'Restricted Barber' and 'Barber' programs?
There are two types of barber licenses in Florida: the standard (900 hours) and the restricted (600 hours).
At Invictus, we only offer the restricted barber program which focuses on haircuts and shaving and excludes chemical services (Permanent Waving, Coloring and Bleaching, Hair Relaxing and Curling).
If you are not interested in offering perms, relaxers, and other chemical services, the restricted barber license might be a great fit for you. It is a shorter and cost-effective program that allows you to graduate and obtain your license in 3 to 6 months (time varies depending on how many hours you dedicate per day to the online portion of your program).
Also, the examination for Restricted Barber consists of only 30 multiple-choice questions covering the State of Florida Barbers’ Laws and Rules (compared to the examination for Standard Barber licensure that consists of 100 multiple-choice questions about Safety, Sanitation, and Sterilization; Florida Barber Rules and Laws; Hair Cutting and Hair Styling; Chemical Procedures; Hair Structure and Chemistry; Shaving, Beard, and Mustache Trimming; Shampooing).
Does Invictus offer other programs like 'Barber' and 'Cosmetology'?
No, we specialize in the Restricted Barber program, which is a shorter and cost-effective program that allows you to graduate and obtain your license in as little as 3 months.
Will I really learn how to cut hair?
Yes, with our unique methodology anyone can learn! Unlike anything offered in the US, we combine Tico’s twenty-plus years of experience behind the chair with knowledge he acquired from the best barber academies in the world.

What are the class schedules?
Our program is hybrid, meaning you can study the theory at home at your own pace. The lab classes are 100% practical and require your presence at the school. We offer lab classes from Monday to Saturday, in the morning and evening for your convenience. You will have access to the school calendar and can pick the date and time that works best for you.
Does Invictus accept transfer hours from another school?
Yes! Invictus accepts transfer hours from another institution, please contact us to discuss your case and explore the best options for you.
What are the financing options?
You can set up a payment plan directly with us, with flexible weekly, biweekly, or monthly payments! Invictus currently does not offer government financing (Federal Student Aid), but the advantage of financing directly with us is that you can complete the course debt-free, without carrying debt or paying interest for months or years.
Or, finance up to 24 months with Klarna (approval required). Students usually pay between $380-$410 per month.

For your convenience, we operate on an “open enrollment” model, which means you do not have to wait for a class to fill up to start. You can begin today!
What are the requirements to apply?
We accept students 18 years and older. We only need a copy of your high school diploma or GED, and a copy of your ID. It’s that simple!
